BYU in the NFL - Week 8: Ziggy Ansah shines in London

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

Ziggy Ansah once again stole the show among former Cougars in the NFL this week and got into a scuffle with one of BYU's former rivals in the process. Ansah had another huge outing even though the Lions' came away with another disappointing result. Ansah picked up four tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, and a QB hit in Detroit's embarrassing 45-10 loss to Kansas City in London.

At one point in the second quarter, Kansas City quarterback and former Ute Alex Smith started a brief scuffle with Ansah after he took exception with the way Ansah approached him as he slid during a run. The two were separated quickly and Smith was assessed a personal foul for the incident.

Ansah's seven sacks and three forced fumbles on the season now tie him for second in the NFL in both categories.

In other BYU alumni news, former Cougar offensive lineman De'Ondre Wesley got some good news this past week when he was promoted from Baltimore's practice squad to the active roster.

Here's how all the BYU alumni in the NFL performed for their respective teams in Week 8:

Dennis Pitta (Ravens) #88: Pitta continues to practice with the Ravens, but has yet to return to the playing field. Baltimore has three weeks to either activate Pitta or keep him on the PUP list (which would end his season and likely his career).

Ziggy Ansah (Lions) #94: Ansah played 43 total snaps and recorded four tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, and one QB hit in Detroit's 10-45 loss to Kansas City.

Kyle Van Noy (Lions) #53: Van Noy played 28 snaps, but did not record any stats in Detroit's 10-45 loss to Kansas City.

John Denney (Dolphins) #92: Denney played eight special teams snaps as the long snapper in Miami's 7-36 loss to New England.

Uani 'Unga (Giants) #47: 'Unga played 44 snaps and picked up five tackles in New York's 49-52 loss to New Orleans.

Dallas Reynolds (Giants) #61: Reynolds played 18 snaps, but did not record any stats in New York's 49-52 loss to New Orleans.

Daniel Sorensen (Chiefs) #49: Sorensen played 29 snaps and recorded a single tackle in Kansas City's 45-10 win over Detroit.

Alani Fua (Cardinals) #59: Fua played 18 special teams snaps, but did not record any stats in Arizona's 34-20 win over Cleveland.

De'Ondre Wesley (Ravens) #77: Wesley was promoted to Baltimore's active roster from the practice squad this past week, but did not play in the Ravens' 29-26 win over San Diego.

Cougars currently on NFL practice squads: Hebron Fangupo (Chiefs), Rob Daniel (Packers), and Paul Lasike (Bears).
