BYU in the NFL - Week 13: Daniel Sorensen turns in another solid performance

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Week 13 of the NFL season brought more solid performances from former Cougars Daniel Sorensen and Ziggy Ansah.

Sorensen has had limited opportunities on the field outside of special teams this season, but when he's had those opportunities he's made the most of them. This week was no different. Sorensen, who had 52 defensive snaps on the year coming into the game got 39 defensive snap this week. Sorensen recorded five tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, and a QB hit in the Chiefs victory over the Raiders.

Meanwhile in Detroit, Ziggy Ansah kept on doing what Ziggy does, which is tormenting opposing quarterbacks. Ansah added another sack to his now 12.5 on the season, keeping him in second place in the NFL. He added three tackles, two tackles for loss, and two QB hits to go along with his sack in the Lions' 23-27 loss to the Packers.

Unfortunately, the Detroit coaching staff decided not to utilize Ansah in the pass rush on the final drive that ended with Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers completing a hail mary pass to win the game. Instead they have him do this:

Here's how all the BYU alumni in the NFL performed for their respective teams in Week 13:

Dennis Pitta (Ravens) #88: Pitta is out for the season as he continues to recover from the hip injury he suffered last season.

Ziggy Ansah (Lions) #94: Ansah played 43 snaps, recording three tackles, two tackles for loss, two QB hits, and a sack in Detroit's heartbreaking 23-27 loss to Green Bay.

Kyle Van Noy (Lions) #53: Van Noy played 24 special teams snaps did not record any stats in Detroit's 23-27 loss to Green Bay.

John Denney (Dolphins) #92: Denney played 12 special teams snaps, handling long snapping duties in Miami's 15-13 victory over Baltimore.

Uani 'Unga (Giants) #47: 'Unga finally returned from injury and played 26 snaps, recording three tackles in New York Giants' 20-23 loss to the New York Jets.

Dallas Reynolds (Giants) #61: Reynolds played 37 snaps, but did not record any stats in the Giants' 20-23 loss to the Jets.
