BYU football coach search: Ken Niumatalolo's agent confirms Monday meeting with BYU

The Navy head coach will be headed to Provo next week to meet with BYU officials.

The longer BYU has waited to make a decision regarding their head coach, the likelihood of the Cougars leaning towards Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo increases. It looks like there is new news to confirm that suspicion.

Bill Wagner of the Capital Gazette reported Thursday evening that Niumatalolo will be traveling to Provo on Monday to meet with officials from BYU, including AD Tom Holmoe. Wagner cites that Evan Beard, who has represented Niumatalolo since 2007, confirmed the meeting between the Navy coach and officials at BYU.

Beard said Niumatalolo "feels strongly that he needs to hear what BYU has to say."

It was suspected if BYU were to hire Niumatalolo, it would wait until after Navy's regular season finale with rival Army. In Wagner's report Thursday, Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuck expressed his displeasure with the distraction the coaching rumors bring during game preparations.

Tom Holmoe is likely doing his best to avoid creating even more distraction, but this report probably doesn't help.
