Twitter Interview: Get to know Michigan TE Jake Butt

Big tight end Jake Butt will be a key factor in the outcome of Saturday's match up with BYU. His first name is Jake (just like mine) and his last name is Butt (something that I also have), so naturally I had to interview him. Since Michigan doesn't exactly let their players talk to random bloggers like myself, I had to conduct this exclusive interview via Twitter.

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

This week you are facing a ranked BYU team in what looks to be the biggest game for your team thus far. What are you doing to prepare for this pivotal match-up?

That doesn't seem like a responsible thing to do considering the early start to the game on Saturday. What are you doing up at the early hours of the morning?

You and me both. Ever since watching Interstellar all I can think about is doing some serious deep space exploration with Anne Hathaway. I just can't wrap my head around the idea of time travel through black holes. Do you think it's possible?

Exactly. Anyways, I'm sure you're also staying up late so you can keep up with your studies, right?

I'll take that as a no. Hopefully your grades aren't suffering too much.

Yes, on the football field you're pretty good but we're talking about school.

Yeah, I don't believe you for a second. I know you're lying.

Yes...

I knew it. There is no way anyone who goes to Michigan actually likes doing school work.

That's right. I'm not afraid to throw out those truth bombs.

Let's get back to the important questions. Do you ever get sick of how much people talk about your last name?

Wait, really? My last name is Welch and I can't tell you how many times people would call me "Jake Belch" or "little grape juice boy".

Hilarious, I know. But surely you fell victim to some venomous teasing in elementary school? I can only imagine how bad it was for you.

Too soon? I totally understand if you don't want to dig up those old memories.

It's OK. We'll talk about something else.

Tomorrow is going to be a big game for you guys. Are you guys pretty pumped to be playing against a ranked BYU team?

I can only imagine. I know there are a lot of guys out there who grow up dreaming of playing BYU. What does it feel like going up against a program with such prestige?

Indeed. We're getting very close. Besides being a skilled football player, what are some of your other talents?

You don't say. How are you feeling about this week's game between Oregon and Utah? You played the Utes earlier this season so you have an idea of what they bring to the table.

Go Ducks indeed. What about my future wife. Any idea what her nationality will be?

Well I happen to speak Spanish so that's not all that crazy. Maybe I should schedule a trip to Spain.

You got it Jake. I think you might be right about this whole predicting the future thing.

Tell us about your favorite food. Do you have a go-to restaurant in Ann Arbor?

Two very good choices. I could spend the entire weekend at Buffalo Wild Wings.

PREACH. What about music? Do you have an artist that you like to listen to before the games?

Oh I am always down for some B-Withs. We can talk more about this later.

Do you have any questions for myself or the BYU fan base?

Uh, I'm pretty sure that's not allowed. Maybe you should ask something else.

Aren't those shoes like $2,000? Are you sure you can afford that?

Even if you could afford it, why would you want to buy a Kanye West shoe? Didn't he say that he was a huge Ohio State fan?

Seriously. I swear the other day on Twitter Kanye said  "Joey Bosa shouldn't be allowed to have that much power" or something to that effect.

Whatever man. I know what I saw.

Anyway I should probably get going. Need to get ready for my big date tonight. She's not Spanish but I've good a good feeling about this one.

Thanks Jake! Best of luck to you on Saturday.
