BYU football released it's 2016 offseason fireside schedule today. The release comes after head coach Kalani Sitake announced that he would continue the fireside tradition started by former coach Bronco Mendenhall, but would move the events to the offseason.
Here is the schedule:
Date | City | Venue |
---|---|---|
Sunday, May 1 | East Lansing, Michigan | Lansing Stake Center |
Sunday, May 15 | Montgomery, Ohio | Montgomery Stake Center |
Sunday, May 22 | San Clemente, California | San Clemente Stake Center |
Sunday, May 29 | Washington DC | LDS Temple Visitors' Center |
Sunday, June 5 | Laie, Hawaii | BYU-Hawaii, Cannon Activities Center |
Sunday, June 12 | Sandy, Utah | Alta View Stake Center |
Sunday, June 26 | Eagle, Idaho | Star Idaho Stake Center |
Coach Sitake kicked off the inaugural Spring fireside in Mesa, Arizona this past weekend with wide receiver coach Ben Cahoon along with several BYU players. It's likely that the rest of the Spring firesides will follow a similar format with 2-3 current players joining Sitake at each location.
The firesides will take place in conjunction with the already announced BYU FanFest events.
In addition to the Spring firesides, BYU also announced they will hold alumni firesides during the season. Fans attending these firesides will hear from distinguished BYU alumni and members of the athletic department the night before road games.
All in all, these events will give fans across the country additional opportunities to participate in the football program.
