BYU football recruiting: 2016 OT Clark Barrington signs with the Cougars

Clark Barrington, a 6-foot-6, 265-pound offensive tackle out of University High School in Spokane, Washington, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for BYU. Barrington recently committed to the Cougars after receiving an offer from the new coaching staff and taking an official visit to campus.

Barrington is a two-star prospect and the 28th ranked high school prospect out of the state of Washington according to 247Sports Composite. His composite score is 79.19 also makes him the fourth ranked offensive tackle out of the state. He also had offers from Eastern Washington, Idaho, Idaho State, and Montana.

Barrington has good strength and has the ability to put opponents on their backs when he gets his hands on them. He has a good frame, but will need to spend some time in the weight room adding additional bulk. He needs to work on keeping his pad level lower or he'll struggle versus FBS-caliber defensive linemen. Overall, Barrington will need some time to develop, but could end up being a quality offensive lineman for the Cougars.

Barrington is expected to leave on a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before enrolling at BYU. He will join the Cougars when he returns in 2018.
