Alema Pilimai is a surprise signee for the BYU class of 2016 and will continue his football career in Provo. Pilimai is 6-4 and roughly 200 lbs and is a QB for Tustin High School in Tustin, CA (Orange County). He was a pretty strong verbal to the Utes until Kalani Sitake was hired as BYU head coach and made a major push for him to come to Provo.
Besides BYU and Utah, he also had scholarship offers from Oregon State and Washington State.

Pilimai is rated a three star prospect on the 247 Sports composite with a rating of 84.07. The film shows him playing in several positions on both sides of the ball, but it seems that most schools were recruiting him to play OLB. However, he has some serious ball skills and enough speed to play WR and contribute on special teams. As a defender he is very assignment sound, but lacks brute physicality at this point, he will most likely need some weight to play linebacker in a 4-3 system.
His current plans are to serve a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints immediately after high school and be at fall camp in 2018.
Here are his senior highlights.
