Congrats to Ashley!

BYU’s soccer team has been awesome this season. Jennifer Rockwood’s squad is the fifth-ranked team in the nation with a 10-1-1 record. One of the biggest stars in the college game, Ashley Hatch, has been critical to the Cougars success with her nation’s best 15 goals.

The striker’s performances have caught the attention of the US National Team and earned her an invite to the team’s camp. Today, the BYU Women’s Soccer celebrated Hatch’s invitation on Twitter:

The US National Team has a pair of friendly matches against Switzerland to be played at Rio Tinto Stadium in Salt Lake City on October 19 and in U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 23rd. The 18 women on the roster for each of these matches will be selected from the 24 women attending the camp.

This, however, interrupts Hatch’s availability to BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood. According to Greg Wrubell, Ashley is expected to miss at least one match and possibly two regular season games for the Cougars. BYU has a home game against Portland on October 15 and a road tilt at San Diego on the 21st.

Hatch is one of only three college players to be selected to the US National team.

Best of luck to Ashley as she tries to make Jill Ellis’ 11 for the USA!
