The 2009-10 BYU basketball team has been practicing for about a week now, and coach Dave Rose has learned it shouldn't have a problem being physical this season. "We've already got a couple of guys banged up," Rose said after Thursday's practice at the Richards Building. The Cougars have been bumped from the Marriott Center this week due to the annual Homecoming Spectacular program. Freshman Tyler Haws missed the workout with "an IT band issue with his knee" after it was bumped the second day of practice. Rose said it started to swell, so Haws saw a doctor and will probably be out a couple more days. Shooting guard Jackson Emery returned to practice Thursday after missing a few days with a thigh injury, and freshman Brock Zylstra suffered a concussion after butting heads with Jonathan Tavernari on Wednesday.
It's time for TCU to shoulder the hype and expectations. It's not the first big game this program has played in this decade. But each time the Frogs have knocked at the door of something special, from San Jose State in 2000, to Southern Mississippi in 2003 and Utah last year, they have come up just short."
Killer Frogs.comIn the end, this game is a true toss-up. I think there is a chance BYU gets blown off the field. But Max Hall showed he could win the big one earlier this year against Oklahoma. And I'm counting on him and the defense to come through again, in an upset."
Bleacher ReportEveryone knows it is a big game when ESPN trots in their GameDay crew, and that is exactly what is happening this weekend in Provo when #8 TCU Horned Frogs meet #16 BYU Cougars for the game of the week. -- Mountain West Connection
